Welcome to Better Together’s bi-weekly newsletter, where we believe that the more we work together, the greater impact we can have! Stemming from the merger of FABSCRAP and Reclypt, a significant step for the future of circular fashion in NYC, this newsletter encourages and provides a platform for the industry to be better together.
Y’all, I am so excited—we’re talking with Alden Wicker about her book To Dye For next week!
📖 BOOK CLUB - Wednesday March 19th @ 6p 📍 LIU Brooklyn OR 🖥️ Zoom
If you know who she is & how HUGE this is grab your ticket (in-person in BK or virtual via zoom) now and prep your questions for the Q&A!
If you don’t know - Alden Wicker literally wrote the book exposing toxic fashion. Also, the founder of EcoCult, she released her book, To Dye For: How Toxic Fashion is Making Us Sick - And How We Can Fight Back in 2023.
When she uncovered the toxic truth about synthetic dyes and harmful [forever] chemicals in clothing, major outlets cancelled segements to air her findings. Now, we have the chance to hear directly from her. Join us for an exclusive conversation where we’ll discuss To Dye For, the shocking reality of modern fashion, and what we can do to demand change.
This eye-opening book dives into the hidden dangers of textile dyes and synthetic fabrics—unregulated chemicals, toxic finishes, and the environmental impact of fast fashion. Did you know Victorian-era green dresses contained arsenic? Fashion’s toxic history isn’t just in the past—it’s still happening today.
Whether you’re a sustainability expert or just curious about what’s in your clothes, this discussion is for you. Join us in person or online to ask Alden your questions and explore how we can rethink fashion for a healthier future. Reading not required to join.

📰 What We’re Reading
“WOMEN”
Friend, fabulous writer, and activist, Arielle V. King, shares her keynote speech from London’s first-ever Black Ecofeminist Summit that she helped organize. It goes without saying that Black feminism, environmental justice, and joy are all connected, but she says it so well. Similar to Earth Month, which is right around the corner, it’s important to bypass the greenwashing to support truly impactful, actionable, and sustaining work of all women who are helping other women.

“NEW YORK ON EARTH”
I LOVE this newsletter, if you’re a New Yorker you should be reading it! Here’s a blurb:
“While it’s great that the majority of the serious Mayoral candidates in NYC went to the environmental forum last week, it doesn’t seem like you actually have to live here to be the current Mayor, the frontrunner to be the next Mayor or even a replacement Deputy Mayor.
…in, fact, it’s probably more important to just coddle a borough-centric Democratic political machine or two.”

'“KNITTING”
[Video] Calli, of Warmly, came to our knitting workshop last week. Love what she has to say and how she portrayed the electric, cozy, welcoming, and knowledge-thirsty vibe of our workshops : ) Also, her Substack is wonderful if you’re looking for things to do in NYC!
