Welcome to Better Together’s bi-weekly newsletter, where we believe that the more we work together, the greater impact we can have! Stemming from the merger of FABSCRAP and Reclypt, a significant step for the future of circular fashion in NYC, this newsletter encourages and provides a platform for the industry to be better together.
🧶 WEAVING WITH SCRAP FABRIC
Our 3-part workshop series on fabric identification continues this Monday with Wovens!
If you joined us last time (or read the recap here on Substack), you got a deep dive into natural, synthetic, regenerative, and blended fibers—now, we’re weaving that knowledge together (literally).
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to hand weave + identify weave types with FABSCRAP & Black Girls Sew!
I’ve been navigating “sustainable fashion” for years now, to the point that I started a community organization to help others and what I’ve landed on is that understanding your fibers and fabric is key to a sustainable and quality wardrobe.
I’ve created these workshops for this exact reason!
No prior experience needed—just bring your curiosity, and we’ll bring the materials. Plus, you’ll get your very own Fabric Journal to guide you through the world of fibers, wovens, and knits.
Join us Monday, February 3rd at 6p at FABSCRAP to build your skills, connect with fellow fabric enthusiasts, and gain the confidence to make more informed, sustainable choices in your wardrobe and craft projects.

From discussing why mending with community matters to patching wovens by hand, this blog is like a warm cup of tea. Check out and support her mending and upcycling experiment.
